Assess Yourself To Determine Your Scholarship Eligibility

Free education funding comes in many forms. There are the kind you get in high school for academic achievement and others that don\’t always require you to be at the top of your class. To determine your scholarship eligibility, or scholarship renewal, take a look at yourself.

What are your strong points, in other words what do you do best? What hobbies that you engage in that could become a career? Is there a subject that you really understand like math, science or language arts? What are you going to study in college. Take a look at yourself, write down a profile of what you have done and who you are. Colleges offer all types of awards based on portfolios. You can get funds for sports, the arts, teaching, as well as many other areas of study, work or area of interest.

If you have a part time job, ask your employer if they have funds for training or college outside the workplace. They may want you to sign a contract to work a specific amount of time for this money, but it would be worth it to get a college degree. Where your parents work may be another option, ask them. There are organizations that will fund college for certain fields.

If you are already engaged in higher education, seek out professional clubs or groups that specialize in your area of study. Of course if a double major is being pursued check both areas for more options. Keep the category broad, say you are majoring in art then check into money for humanities and teaching as well. If you have already received a scholarship, be sure to reapply before the deadline for a scholarship renewal.

There are a lot of non-profit organizations who offer higher education funding, especially to low income people or someone who has helped in their charity work. Churches, Temples and Synagogues offer monies to help their members and their children seek a college degree. Private clubs like the Rotary, the Lions, or the Moose help people go to college. Individuals are another source. There are people out there that truly believe in higher education and offer money to help people in need.

There is also free funding offered for people from different ethnic groups. State and Federal Governments offer extra money for Native Americans, Asian, African and Hispanic. You don\’t even have to be a pure blood to receive these monies. If your parents come from different ethnic backgrounds then check both. Look on your family tree and see if anyone comes from a particular ethnic group and check for funding.

Finding money for education is more diverse than anyone would think. Check online, go to your public library and ask everyone you know. Check with companies where you would like to work. Don\’t forget to ask at your church and seek out non-profit organizations and private clubs. Leave no stone unturned to establish your scholarship eligibility.
